Fire devastates home of Mr and Mrs Pook early Tuesday
An early Tuesday fire destroyed the home and nearly all contents of Mr and Mrs J H W Pook. The couple awakened by their three week old baby around one in the morning escaped in night attire. The fire likely started near a dining room stove and was stubborn to control despite a prompt brigade response. Insurance covers only a fraction of the loss, and residents express sympathy.
