Enrollment declines hit District 59 amid housing and incentives concerns
School District 59 numbers show a 232 FTE drop this September from last year, with Dawson Creek Secondary and Chetwynd Secondary bearing the largest losses. Officials cite lack of affordable housing and out-of-town living allowances as factors, while Peace Christian School expanded grades and private schools gain. The trend, lasting over a decade, pressures staffing and resources across 11 schools.
