BC gas producers face short term gloom long term promise
Esso Resources executive Peter Nettleton told Fort St John BC gas producers that short term prospects look weak while long term demand could rise. He blamed industry jargon for misunderstandings by governments and outlined the three party framework involving Westcoast Transmission, the National Energy Board and provincial royalties. Despite troubled near term, future projects such as the Vancouver Island pipeline, Prince Rupert LNG for Japan, and California heavy oil cogeneration could expand demand for BC gas, though with government costs and risks.
