District and Union reach agreement on first contract
The District of Chetwynd and CUPE Local 3052 signed a first collective agreement for Public Works Arena and Administrative Staff. Covered January 1, 1986 to June 30, 1988, it provides average pay increases of 2.5 and 2.6 percent and improved benefits. Mediated settlement reached September 3, 1986 after certification January 27, 1986.

Quiet weeks in Chetwynd police report notes several incidents
Chetwynd RCMP ran moving roadblocks on Highways 97 and 29 on September 5 to curb impaired driving and defective vehicles. Four liquor seizures, 13 tickets, 31 warnings, one narcotics seizure, and a 24 hour suspension were recorded. Additional liquor seizures, a 24 hour suspension, and arrests for public drunkenness and impaired driving were noted. Earlier, a Windrem Apartments vehicle had two tires slashed and a local man charged with wilful damage, and two men were charged with assault causing bodily harm at Gwillim Garden Apartments with minor injuries to a Prince George resident.
