35th Annual Chetwynd Half Marathon in scorching heat
In Chetwynd the 35th annual half marathon drew 72 runners and a 3 km kids race with 16 participants. Gilles Delmee from Belgium won in 1 34 16, while Kit Sigurdson and Wendy Giesbrecht followed, with junior Jordan Davis among others. Organizers added water stations as heat stressed all runners. Delmee noted the sun and heat impacted pacing as BC Hydro engineer Delmee plans more races this month.
