Cablevision Steps Toward Reality in Chetwynd Plans

The Chamber of Commerce TV Committee met with MP Frank Oberle on August 31 to map plans for a satellite earth station. Oberle outlined CRTC licensing rules and said an application should wait until system details are set. Hearings in Prince George on November 6 could lead to a spring 1980 licence and a potential 1981 start. If a cablevision licence is granted, an earth station licence becomes less likely. The committee reconsidered a four channel earth station project costing about $125,000 amid these developments.
