BC oil and gas reserves hit new high in 2007
British Columbia's gas reserves rose for the eighth straight year in 2007 reaching 483 billion cubic metres, a 177 percent replacement of 2007 production and the province's highest level ever. Energy Minister Richard Neufeld predicts continued growth amid under-drilled potential.

British Columbia under-drilled compared to Canada says Neufeld
Richard Neufeld notes BC lags other provinces in drilling despite big gains from Nikinassin formation in Hiding Creek and Notikewin plays. Shallow Belcourt-Taylor, Parkland and Jean Marie C pools add nearly 1900 bcm, with new shale plays in Montney and Horn River driving a rush for rights. Technology such as horizontal drilling widens viable sources as demand climbs, even as reserves life drops from 35 to nine years.
