Seedling storage facility construction begins in Chetwynd
A ground breaking in Chetwynd marks the start of a 400000 silviculture storage facility in the industrial park. Construction runs to October 1 for a roof, with completion by November 1 and testing on November 15. The Ministry of Forests will operate under a 10 year lease, storing about 15 million seedlings, the largest in northern British Columbia.

Two Dawson Creek Residents Charged Under Wildlife Act
Alex Gerard Andrews and Dorothy L Hirondelle face two counts each of killing wildlife out of season and unlawful possession after a cow moose and a doe deer were killed May 15 1986 along the 1A access road to the East Pine natural gas pipeline station. Police report from Chetwynd highlights minor incidents
A Kitimat resident hit a moose on Hwy 29 south on Sukunka Road causing $700 damage to a 1985 pickup. On Aug 9 and 10 three locals were arrested for public drunkenness and held overnight. A Shoppers Food Mart hit and run caused $250 damage when a local backed into a parked car. Another incident at Chetwynd Confectionary left $600 damage to the struck vehicle and $150 to the other. A theft of a chain saw from a 49th Avenue shed occurred. Two impaired driving arrests were noted.
