Chetwynd goalie wins gold at Czech Challenge Cup
Ryan Hecker, 17, from Chetwynd, helped Canada Polar Bears U-17 to an undefeated 8-0 run and Czech Challenge Cup title in Prague. The team defeated a Saskatchewan club 2-0 in the final and Hecker shared goaltending duties with Kyle McBaratney as coach Don Stoneadge praised their defense and work ethic. Local support funded his trip, thanked by Hecker who called the victory the peak of his hockey career.
