Block Parent Program ends in British Columbia
The BC Block Parent Society asks residents with red and white window signs to remove them as of March 31, after RCMP withdrew the program and a re certification process for security screening. President Evelyn Wedley cites volunteer shortages and police ID checks as factors, noting communities may have to rebuild safety networks with partner schools and police. The program, active for 30 years, urged safer neighborhoods while planning pilot education initiatives for children and parents.
