Royal Lady Lillian French Tours Canada Lodges

Supreme Honored Royal Lady Lillian French of the Order of the Royal Purple travels across Canada on an official visit. She aims to visit 96 lodges this year, focusing on Alberta and British Columbia. Hudson's Hope tackles community recreation needs

On October 16 council heard John Crookewit of the recreation commission discuss needs with Site One in mind. Clearing near Gen Pearkes school creates room for a speed skating oval whose center could host a ball diamond or outdoor winter skating. A shack was acquired but septic and water hookups are needed. No word yet on Hydro socio economic survey from summer. Fire Chief Jim Murray reported on ambulance operations.

Travelling Elks visit regional directors meeting in Prince George

On October 13 1974 a regional directors meeting was held in Prince George where taxi owner Irwin Hoppe of the Prince George Taxi Association was elected president of the province wide Taxi Owners Association of B C comprised of over 600 members. Hoppe a long time Prince George resident aims to contribute his experience to the industry’s betterment.

Car wash funds support Heritage trip plans

Parents organized a car wash at Chetwynd Motors to fund a Heritage England trip for about twenty students in grades 8 to 12. Students David Gayse David Hoffman and Ted Roland helped as the event drew strong public support. Two work sessions are scheduled October 30 31 with shifts A and B.

Sa Gee Twyn Day Care Proposal for Chetwynd

Sa Gee Twyn Day Care Society proposes opening a day care centre in Chetwynd in January under Mrs. Karl Topnik. They seek equipment and volunteers for 22 children from 7 am to 6 pm and plan a Baby Care Centre for 15 children with hot lunches. Election interest low in Chetwynd race

The upcoming November 16 election in Chetwynd has drawn little public interest with no nominations filed yet. Two aldermanic seats are open, currently held by Aldermen Planner and Lennox, and prospective candidates must file nominations at the Village Office by October 28 before noon.
