Rotary Club to Build Chetwynd Sports Park

The Chetwynd Rotary Club plans spring construction of a $600,000 community sports park across from the Recreation Centre in the Moccasin Flats area. Projects include soccer fields, a 6 km cross country trail, a BMX track, an outdoor arena, washrooms, and drinking fountains with ongoing fundraising efforts aided by Pacific Western’s $5,000 donation.

Willow Creek Coal Mine project seeks BC review near Chetwynd

Pine Valley Coal Ltd seeks environmental approval for the Willow Creek Mine 45 km west of Chetwynd with a $20 million build, 900 000 tonnes per year output, 15 year life. Construction hoped for Feb 1998, workforce 100 to 120, tax impact about $57 million. Open house for public input on Nov 3 in Chetwynd.
