Winter birds arrive as squirrels chase off feeds
The report notes many resident winter birds have arrived, including a lone house sparrow likely from nearby stables. Geese move east and west with the day, grebes linger before freezing water, and an eagle catches a fish near the beach. Squirrels drive birds from feeders, magpies retreat, and nuthatches store seeds in a poplar. Jonathan mulched leaves, but trails and gardens aren’t bedded for winter yet.
