Chetwynd hosts 8th Northeast BC Coal and Energy Forum
The 8th Annual Northeast B C Community Coal and Energy Forum held in Chetwynd brought 200 plus delegates for two days of tours and talks on coal and energy futures. Attendees from Coal Association of Canada First Nations CN Rail Walter Energy Quintette Caldero Anglo American Xstrata and the Ministry discussed regulation markets and community impacts. Mayor Merlin Nichols emphasized meaningful conversation to balance industry with housing services and community needs. Ann Marie Hann of the Coal Association highlighted national economic study findings on GDP employment taxes and wages.
