The provincial government announced Oct 1 changes to ICBC auto insurance. Net wage past payments replace gross wages to save about 2.5 million annually, benefits limited to injuries from auto operation, and ICBC may suspend coverage for those owing traffic fines or penalties, with projected annual collections up to 8 million combined.
ICBC northern BC road safety co ordinator Lynette Piper says gains in belt use are needed across 15 communities. Among the results Tumbler Ridge shows 51.5 percent compliance, Valemount 55.4 and McBride 55.4, Chetwynd 71.2 with room for improvement after a two week survey during peak commute hours.
