Backhouse speaks on Northern BC economic development drive
Northern Development Commissioner John Backhouse spoke at a Rotary Club and Chamber lunch in Chetwynd last Wednesday. He outlined a regional economic network including municipal councils, chambers, first nations and other groups to attract industries. He warned of tough global economics but emphasized collaboration to leverage Northern BC’s resources and promote wood products via the Canadian Wood Council initiative Wood Works. He cited a potential 1.4 billion BC school project and noted if 15 percent of capital aimed at wood, over 200 million could flow to the wood industry.
