Chetwynd General Hospital Board Meets in September 88
The Board of Trustees met on September 19 and continued September 27. August and year to date workloads declined. Purchases include addressograph machine paediatric stethoscope and lawn tractor. Roof replacement and new nurse call system approved. Mentor Program set for October led by Dr Gooday. Health authorities to fund two major items. Surveyor from CCHealthcare Facilities will visit October 3 and 4. Physiotherapy room renovations begin in October. Dr Harding to locum in Creston. a replacement physician expected. Long Term Care study and Drug and Alcohol Program umbrella feasibility under discussion. Council letters include cancer clinic support for Prince George Regional Hospital and a joint meeting with School Board for strategic planning. Surgical procedure list reviews ongoing with College of Physicians and Surgeons BC and hospital surveys.

Archaeological finds place the Charlie Lake Cave near Fort St. John, B C, among North America s most important sites. Occupied 10 500 years ago, the cave held a small group whose survival led to language and ritual developments. Plans propose a Regional Tourist Information and Interpretive Centre to showcase geology biology and culture while boosting regional tourism and heritage pride.
