Louisiana Pacific vows to cut emissions at Chetwynd mill
Louisiana Pacifics Chetwynd pulp mill has spent about 5.8 million dollars on boiler improvements to exit the environmental violator list and may spend up to 4 million more to complete fixes. Plant manager Bob Fornelli says current exhaust levels run 300 to 350 mg per cubic meter, down from 700 mg, with the company seeking a permit amendment to 350 mg to March 31, 1998 while it evaluates final options. The incinerator-recovery boiler remains within its 60 mg permit, typically around 17 mg per cubic meter.
