BC forest renewal urged to prevent future timber shortfalls
Former B C chief forester Bill Young told the Union of B C Municipalities that the forest renewal program is inadequate to avert future timber shortages. He urged immediate expansion, noting increased silviculture spending and a plan to plant 200 million trees annually by 1987, while warning that land withdrawals reduce harvests and budgets show only 2.9 per cent reinvestment in forests.

Chetwynd Flying Club Fly-In Draws Mixed Weather Support
The Chetwynd Flying Club hosted a weather challenged Fly-In with gliders from Fort St. John staying away due to a 400 foot ceiling. Parachutists from Fort St. John wowed attendees and Borek Air offered introductory Cessna flights as a hoped for flying school moves closer to reality. Lorne Dalke flew in from Dawson Creek, donating his proceeds, and helicopter trips were also available amid a partial cloud break. Next year aims for a larger summer event with improved conditions and aerobatic demonstrations by a glider and a bi plane if feasible.
