Oversight blamed for W A C Bennett dam power loss
Hydro power losses at the W A C Bennett dam are blamed on an oversight that left a downstream diversion gate at Peace Canyon unable to close. Project manager Cris Boatman said dogging beams were not secured before the Peace River reservoir buildup, requiring reservoir emptying and upstream gate adjustments. Hydro borrowed power to cover losses and restored the reservoir to full capacity. The Peace Canyon dam will have four turbines operational, starting with the first in December.
