Louisiana-Pacific pulp mill shuts down for up to two months
The Louisiana-Pacific pulp mill near Chetwynd will close on Friday November 10 for at least 24 days with about 120 staff laid off. Unsold pulp inventories over 28,000 tonnes, rising weekly, trigger the shutdown, and wood deliveries will stop. Union leader John Wetherill criticizes the move and foresees possible 2 to 3 months of maintenance work and a potential February reopening.
