Treaty 8 leaders urge government to back negotiations over litigation
Carole T. Corcoran of the Treaty 8 Fort Nelson Band and 21 BC Aboriginal leaders met Prime Minister Mulroney and Indian Affairs Minister Sidon on October 23, with 300 more leaders the next day. Corcoran called for a principled framework, three core government commitments, and an end to adversarialism to advance treaty rights and resource sharing, noting the 80 year gap since the last BC Indian meeting.
