Jackrabbit Ski League brings fun cross country to Canada
The Canadian Ski Association runs Jackrabbit Ski League since 1980 with 7500 children enrolled nationwide. In British Columbia nearly 2000 children in 54 groups, eight monthly sessions emphasize fun, fitness and self paced skill development rather than competition. Volunteers and instructors guide groups using CSA materials, while Jackrabbit Day events wind up the season. Herman “Jackrabbit” Smith-Johannsen, who inspired the program, celebrated his 110th birthday last June and endorses the league. For registrations, contact local recreation directors or the CSA BC division.
