Chetwynd forms local learning disabilities group
Kim Doerksen announces a chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association of B C in Chetwynd led by Carloyne Bobicki. Monthly meetings begin with the next on June 12 at 7 30 pm at the library. The group will support children and parents and push for policy changes and funding.

Lady Baden-Powell Centennial marked by Girl Guides event
The Peace River area Girl Guides celebrated Lady Baden-Powell’s centennial with a May weekend at Camp Misconie May 19 to 22, 1989, drawing about 162 girls and leaders including 25 from Chetwynd. They held crafts and games despite snow, postponed rally, Mini Rally, and thanks to sponsors and community supporters. A late-night note recalls Bobby Richardson’s 11 at-bats in a 22-inning 1962 Yankees game.
