BC auditor seeks greater value from taxpayers’ money
Auditor General Erma Morrison says BC's restraint cuts hinder value for money audits as staff were trimmed by 10 to 82, limiting oversight. She faults the Finance Ministry for lax rules, unrecured secret bank accounts, and unclear reconciliations while flagging later counts of $4 billion in securities. Other ministries face losses, overruns, and sloppy documentation. She urges including $2 billion in loans from financing authorities in consolidated statements.
