Victoria man dies after texting while driving crash
A 26 year old Victoria man, Michael Edward Wolsynuk, died after his northbound 2005 Dodge crossed a median on the Trans Canada Highway and collided with a southbound 2003 Dodge. Police say texting on a BlackBerry contributed to the fatal crash. The coroner and Saanich police noted wet roads, standing water in a curve, worn rear tires, and no seatbelt as factors, while other drivers were not at fault. Wolsynuk died six days later on January 16. His family asked for the name to be released to deter dangerous driving.
