Chetwynd's Visit and the Chetwynd Legacy
British Columbia politician Ralph Chetwynd won a record BC riding vote in 1952 and inspired the town of Little Prairie to be renamed Chetwynd in his honor for bringing the railroad to the Peace River Country. His son Arthur, born in 1913 in Walhachia, became the 8th Baronet of Brocton Hall, and with wife Marjory founded Chetwynd Films Ltd. in 1950, producing over 3000 works and winning numerous awards. Arthur and Marjory visited Chetwynd in 1992 for their 50th wedding anniversary, expressing pride in the town and their family’s ties.
