Evan Saugstad reports on the February 13 2003 BC government plan to involve private investment in BC Rail. An Evaluation Committee held two meetings with northern mayors in Prince George on April 23 and May Sth to review an RFP process. Mayors pressed to review the final RFP, to protect north south line integrity, preserve local jobs, and balance dollars with social factors. Concerns include safety, potential service reductions, and linking northern traffic to Alberta via Dawson Creek. Saugstad plans to monitor progress and share updates.
