BC focuses grain program to aid livestock feed sector
The provincial government announces the Feed Grain Market Development Program to support BC grain producers and boost livestock feeding and meat processing. Premier Vander Zalm and Agriculture Minister Savage outlined incentives for local feed purchases and grain sales, with $11 a tonne and $15 a tonne bonuses. The plan aims to improve lender confidence for the 1987 crop and offset export grain price advantages, while also addressing Yellowhead highway funding and municipal insurance reforms. AIDS education kits for Grade 12 are set for rapid distribution, to be integrated into next year’s family life program.
