Sulfur Spill Routinely Cleaned After Westcoast Truck Accident
A sulfur carrying truck from Retti Trucking rolled on Westcoast Road Monday around noon, spilling elemental sulfur into a small river beneath a bridge. The driver escaped with minor injuries. Authorities from Alberta Sulfur Research Limited and BC Environment collected samples, with officials saying elemental sulfur is benign when untouched and will not affect Chetwynd’s water or fish. A ground and hand clean up is planned, focusing on the river bed with safety for aquatic life in mind.
