Council backs beer and wine store at Chetwynd Inn
At the May 17 meeting Kirk Riddell manager of Chetwynd Motor Inn sought council approval for Regal Enterprises to build operate a Cold Beer and Wine Store. Riddell presented letters of support from the Chamber of Commerce and Merchants' Association while Set. Phillips opposed the proposal. Fort Nelson has operated two such stores for a year and the RCMP will monitor operations. The store would be at the northwest corner of the inn next to Westgate’s IGA with no building additions. Council praised the plan as superb and agreed to support it amid a renovation push costing about 130000 dollars to improve the inn’s image. Continued on page twelve.
