Flu viruses resist drugs raise global alarm
Washington experts at a conference say seasonal influenza is evolving resistance to antiviral drugs with Europe most affected and resistance growing worldwide. Brunate and Lina report that about a quarter of H1N1 viruses resist in Europe and around 11 percent in the United States, with H2 and influenza B less affected. They warn that resistant strains could undermine treatment during severe seasons or pandemics.
