Woman loses home as pine beetle fire threatens towers
Chetwynd BC forest crews responded at once as a wildfire near Wabi Mountain endangered telephone and radio towers. Water bombers and helicopters aided in halting the spread to towers and to heavy timber. Air bombers dropped fire retardant while choppers bucketed water. Firefighters contained the blaze near a trailer and fought the engulfed trailer, with sheds damaged. Emergency Social Services provided care and comfort. BC Forest Service and local firefighters praised for joint efforts.
