Chetwynd audit sparks district foundation planning
The District of Chetwynd received its 2006 audited statements with praise from Sander Rose Trobak. Mayor Evan Langstad heard a Canadian Community Foundation briefing about forming a steering committee of 10 to 12 people to create the foundation and board, with $50 000 commitments from the district and Northern Development Initiatives Trust over two years. The district seeks volunteers and will appoint a council member to the Peace River Regional District Solid Waste Management Plan steering committee to guide future waste strategies. A West Nile Monitoring Program is authorized in partnership with member municipalities for 2007, aided by Union of BC Municipalities and Health Ministry funding. Petition forms will be available at district front counter.
