Relay for Life in Chetwynd draws 16 teams for 12 hour event
The 2008 Relay for Life at Rotary Park will involve 16 teams and runs 12 hours on Saturday starting with a 10:00am opening ceremony and a survivors lap. Organizer Rachelle Ruiter notes the event is a family affair with entertainment and kids activities, closing with community speakers and fund allocation to local aid and research. Last year raised about 35,000 dollars with hopes of similar totals. 15 percent stays in Chetwynd for treatment assistance and emergency funding, the rest funds research and lodging for patients treated away from home.
