Canadian author painter Ted Harrison visited Chetwynd Public Library on May 1, presenting a Children's Story Hour for about 40 youngsters and meeting residents. He spoke of his Yukon life, autographed two children’s novels, and discussed his film on Yukon life shown that evening. He planned further visits to Hudson Hope Ft. St. John and Ft. Nelson before continuing the Peace River Libraries tour.

Deaf Detection Day highlights early hearing loss care in Canada
Canadawide events mark Deaf Detection Day with Elks Purple Cross and Royal Purple urging newborn hearing screening. The program has funded over five million dollars for evaluation facilities and public awareness, plus an international conference in Regina on May 22 and 23, 1984 led by Dr. George T. Mencher.
