Peace River Associated Libraries hold annual meeting in Chetwynd
Thirty five delegates from Cassiar Fort Nelson Fort St John Dawson Creek Peace River and other communities attended the PRA L annual meeting in Chetwynd on April 27. Dorothy Embreus was named chairman with Alice Summer vice chair Jim O Hare secretary Grace Peters treasurer and Korky Grant as trustees representative to the BC Library Association. The retiring chair Anita Mc Williams received thanks.

School year calendar details announced for 1974 75
Public schools will close for pupils on June 27 and for teachers on June 28, reopening September 3. Christmas break runs December 23 to January 3, with pupils back January 6. 195 prescribed school days for 1974 75. Examinations set for June 14 to June 21. Winter exams January 17 to January 24, 1975. Spring exams June 13 to June 20. Spring vacation March 28 to April 4, opening April 7. Good Friday and Easter Monday observed in spring break.

Provincial Chamber of Commerce Convention Planned for Dawson Creek
Organizers say the annual Dawson Creek convention on June 1 2 3 is in strong shape with all events sponsored and most arrangements complete. About 300 guests are expected including delegates their wives and some children. Donations are coming in from Dawson Creek firms though large chains and local motels show weak support. A Japanese tour group of fifteen from Tokyo will visit Dawson Creek in July as part of a 21 day travel package promoting Region H.

Traffic violations clutter court report from April 1974
Fort St John’s Glen Rost was fined 25 dollars for an oversized load under the Commercial Transport Act on April 15 1974. Walter Elmer Roman of Fairbanks Alaska faced a 350 dollar fine for driving with more than .08 blood alcohol on April 22 and appeared before Judge Lundeen on April 25. Harry Bill of Spiritwood paid 20 dollars for excessive engine noise on April 20. David Armstrong of Chetwynd fined 15 dollars for being a minor in possession of liquor after appearing April 25 before Judge Lundeen. Shannon Embree, with narcotics possession charges dated March 23, appeared April 11 and received an absolute discharge.
