Canadians to receive 1.1 billion aid for tainted blood victims
A 1.1 billion package funded by federal, provincial, and territorial governments offers compensation to Canadians infected with tainted blood between 1986 and 1990. The plan covers infections from Hepatitis C and HIV via blood products, including cases where infection came from a partner or parent. Health Minister Allan Rock and Saskatchewan’s Clay Serby announced the national approach, noting some infections might have been preventable.
