New Democrat leader visits Chetwynd during Peace Region tour
Carole James, leader of the New Democrat Party, made a brief stop in Chetwynd during a Peace Region tour. The luncheon was cancelled for lack of interest, leading to a small meeting with chamber representatives, several Councillors, and NDP candidate Pat Shaw. Health care and senior care dominated discussions, with plans to open 1000 long term care beds in 2005 06 and boost apprenticeships by 25 percent. Shaw, nominated for Peace River South, says a balanced plan will share growth benefits across British Columbia.
