Mayor pushes reconsideration of EDC budget raise
Mayor Lasser tells Echo he is very disappointed in Council defeat of an 8000 dollar proposed increase to the EDC budget. The District of Chetwynd would fund 9105 dollars with a dollar for dollar match from the Regional District, while last year the regional share was about 72 percent. Alderman Hoover proposed raising the district share to cover funding gaps. Alderman Shirley favored funding at last year’s level. Mayor says growth requires business pursuit and broad community cooperation despite some Council members not looking ahead.
