Quiet department aids veterans across Canada with extensive programs
Veterans Affairs operates with over 5,000 staff and a near nine hundred million dollar annual budget. Since 1944 it has administered education, housing, grants, pensions, hospital care, and death benefits for eligible veterans, dependants, and survivors through four agencies including the Pension Commission, Pension Review Board, Bureau of Pensions Advocates, and the War Veterans Allowance Board. Aimed at social and economic well being, the department serves more than 800,000 armed forces veterans and their families, forecasting the last beneficiary may pass away in 2030 if no new wars occur.
