Public support urged to protect Mt Baldy land as park
A letter thanks Chetwynd District Council for considering excluding 800 hectares from the 24550 hectare Community Forest to establish a Provincial Park. The change would shield the area from oil and gas development, which is not protected under Community Forest status. Two options are discussed: include now and attempt later removal, or exclude to begin with as urged by backers.

Public Forum on land status and district bylaws discussed
Kalischuk urges keeping land as crown land interim and seek Park status for 800 hectares, with Blair Lekstrom agreeing only if excluded from Community Forest. Public support via petition could influence Ministry of Forests decision before Community Forest Plan finalization. Council began first readings on six bylaws and repeated eight others as part of a multi year bylaw review and rewrite effort see BYLAWS page 20.
