Chetwynd Airport faces heavy upgrade and funding needs

Preliminary study shows upgrading and maintaining the Chetwynd Municipal Airport will cost between $500,000 and $650,000. The district aims to raise funds via a federal grant of about $440,000 and a proposed cost sharing partnership with 12 to 20 regular users. The plan covers resurfacing runways and taxiways, improving the terminal, drainage, and upgrading hazard beacons and lights. The current annual budget is about $75,000. A cost-sharing letter to users is to be sent this week.
