West Fraser biomass plant to double 2013 capex in Chetwynd
West Fraser Timber unveils a 2013 capital budget of 250 to 300 million dollars, more than doubling 2012 spending, with Chetwynd sawmill rebuild and a 12 megawatt biomass plant entering construction by mid 2014. The project, part of BC Hydro’s bioenergy drive, will use hog fuel to power a Turboden turbine, generating about 88 gigawatt hours annually.
