Chetwynd Women’s Resource Centre Faces Closure Risk
With federal budget cuts ending Secretary of State funding the Chetwynd Women’s Resource Centre could close after five years of operation. The centre, run by the Chetwynd Women’s Resource Society, relied on about $27,740 yearly for mortgage, utilities, and staff. Since opening in November 1984 it offered programs on women and family issues, life skills, parenting, volunteer training, and community networking, supported by government subcommittees and projects.
