Premier Bill Bennett announced that a provincial dental care program, a key part of last year’s throne speech, will be implemented sometime in the 1980 fiscal year with details to be outlined in the March 10 budget. He noted strong finances allow the plan and said downtown revitalization measures will be clarified later.
Thirteen members attended the regular meeting on February 28, 1980. Members were asked to phone Lady Burtch with car numbers for P.H.R. ladies night in Dawson Creek on March 11, 1980, and Supreme Honoured Royal Lady Ruby MacDonald of Newfoundland planned to visit Dawson Creek on March 16 for the 35th anniversary of the O.C.R.P. The chair and Chesterfield were reupholstered and returned to the hospital, and future bookings indicate a busy period ahead.
The Echo and staff congratulate Winter Carnival poster winners from Don Titus Windrem and Moberly Lake elementary schools. Northmen held their annual tournament with many teams, a large crowd, and enjoyed games. Joan Chesley returned home from Vancouver hospital. BP Explorations hosted a dinner at Pine Cone with guests from Calgary and Ft. St. John.
