Mammoth Skeleton Found Near Bennett Dam Site
A front end loader operator uncovered the nearly complete mammoth skeleton 20 feet underground in a gravel pit 14 miles downstream from the W A C Bennett dam on June 9. Archaeologists from the Provincial Museum University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University will supervise the excavation with bones likely moved to Vancouver for preservation and study.

Forest Fire Control Course At Prince George

British Columbia proposes Revenue Sharing Act for municipalities
Legislation introduced by the B C government would guarantee municipalities a fixed share of sales tax and resource revenue. Bill 58 sets a revenue sharing fund starting April 1 1978 with grants totaling 140.1 million dollars next year, plus a flat 30 000 per municipality and 15 million for major road work.
