National Aboriginal Day Celebrated Across Aboriginal Communities
Tracy McCall reports National Aboriginal Day on June 21 featuring the Saulteau Band West Moberly First Nations and the Tansi Friendship Centre hosting events. Traditional dancers singers and musicians mingle with colouring contests races and horseshoe tournaments. A opening prayer and friendship circle lead to story-tellers dry meat demonstrations bannock contests and more. The day honors aboriginal contributions to the province and aligns with the solstice since 1996.
