Hudson's Hope Chamber Holds June Meeting Notes Access Path
The Hudsons Hope Chamber of Commerce met on June 12 with strong attendance. A committee will work with town council to secure public boat launching access at Williston Lake end, as current access is private or under reserve. Suggestions include using part of the Local Youth grant to clear a path to the Dinosaur tracks area. President Claude Stubley reported on the BC Chamber convention in Kamloops and the Dawson meeting, stressing travellers dollars aid towns. Wilf Stebbe will add notes to the tourist map sign. The Wally Byron caravan may visit. July and August recess scheduled unless special meetings are called. 1973 brochures were well received. A typo in miles to the dinosaur tracks from the Gething mine will be corrected with a sign at the start of the walk. Claude thanked supporters, especially Everett Pearson, the brochure committee, and named members. Next meeting Sept 11.

Sukunka coal development moves forward in British Columbia
Premier Barrett’s Europe trip aimed to lure steel mills to BC using Sukunka coking coal as bait. British Steel Corporation agreed to a feasibility study for a BC mini steel mill with potential coal procurement from Brascan. About 40 percent of Sukunka coal is government owned. Barrett said German interests were interested and that the province will seek an equity stake, with the Lower Mainland favored for mills due to market access.
