Flooded homes on West Moberly Lake recede as flood risk stays low
In the Peace region, three West Moberly First Nation lakefront homes were flooded last weekend as the Moberly River peaked at 120 cubic metres per second. The BC River Forecast Centre says no flood risk for five days. Nearby Halfway River faces a log jam risk near the Haystack Halfway Bridge. one family may evacuate, though overall threat is limited. Williston Reservoir remains high but spill risk is deemed unlikely, with a potential mid-July spill only a nine percent chance. Emergency officials note the recent flood still affects multiple BC areas and warnings remain for Liard River and southern Peace River.
